CFL Week 14 Predictions

Ohhhhh snap, I missed last week.

Let’s forget about it……..

Ok FINE! I got everything wrong. Are we HAPPY NOW!

Ugghhhhh, I love and hate this league so much. Nothing makes sense any more. But what did make sense is the amount of wine I drank at the Argos/Bombers game (hey-o!)

I just want to put it behind me, and ease into week 14. So, here we go…

Alouettes vs. Blue Bombers: I know what you’re thinking, you’re picking Swaggerville, again? Yep, I am. That was a tough pill to swallow, and they’ll come out guns-a-blazin this week (I hope).

Eskimos vs. Lions: Let’s go with BC. Why? Because it’s the first time they’re playing in the new and improved BC Place. Lehgo, build some history boys!

Riders vs. Stamps: I am going with Riders, and I have no idea why – so don’t ask.

Ticats vs. Argos: Oskee Wee Wee, why? Meh. Because I said so. And there is something funny about Hamilton winning in Toronto.

That’s it for me, folks. If you use my picks to win money – hahahahahahaha!

CFL Week 11 Predictions

Losers…

Not you Cleo, but I guess that fits (see ya).

No one likes losing, but losing is harder when you’re not used to it. Insert Montreal (well, the 2010 and 2009 versions) and Winnipeg. What… Happened…? Frankly I couldn’t have been more excited to see Montreal brought to tears in the Labour Day (cough not) Classic, but hey, can you blame me? The same could not have been said as I was brought to tears the night before watching Sask dance around Winnipeg.

But that’s the best thing about this week, revenge weekend baby! Let’s see how this week stacks up.

Calgary at Edmonton: last week I was happy to lose this game, because my Esks are back! I’m taking them this week (sorry HB) but I’m feeling love for a back to back sweep in Alberta.

Toronto at BC: I tweeted that I wouldn’t be picking the Argos again for the rest of the season. I meant it. Even though Jyles is one of my favourite QB’s in the CFL, one player isn’t enough to change an entire team in a week. Go Gore!

Hamilton at Montreal: ask any CFL player, no one loves playing in Montreal. I’ve been there, on the field, it’s not a good time. With that being said, they also don’t like losing. So combine no fun, and a lack of enjoyment when losing, and you have Montreal this week. They’re coming out for blood, and they’ll get the job done. (By the way, Hamilton, you rock my world. I was like a proud sister this week. Never change.)

Saskatchewan at Winnipeg: Last game hurt my heart, but this one won’t. You don’t come to Swaggerville and win. Sorry Rider Nation, don’t expect a repeat, you’re not getting one.

That’s it for me! Remember to follow me on twitter —> it’s over there. Also, check out 3rd and Long this week. These guys make my week, seriously. They also gave me a theme song, and it’s rather appropriate.

Enjoy the games, guys!

CFL Week 10 Predictions

Week 10? When the hell did that happen? This season is whipping by.

Well, normally you’d be getting a few paragraphs of wit and highly educated CFL picks, but this week you’re going to have to listen for them.

I’ve been lucky enough to be a weekly guest on the podcast 3rd and Long that discusses all things CFL. Hosted by Andy McNamara and Carlan Gay, I have a lot of fun every week with them, and it’s time you all had a listen!

Check it out – I’m on at 31:45.  Week 10 Podcast

Enjoy the week, I’ll see you at the Rogers Centre ARRRGGGOOOOSSSS!!

CFL Week 9 Predictions

Alright boys, line em up.

Now that’s a Bye week.

Well, last week we saw the demise of the Eskimos. I’ve eye-rolled twice while writing that sentence. I don’t even want to talk about it. I’m sad, so so sad. In other Bye week news, great job Argos (ahhhhh!) …at taking away 5 years of my life. What’s with the need to make it such a close game, stop it! I like blow outs, when I’ve picked you that is.

This week should be pretty straightforward. Everyone is rested (I hope), more seats have been added to Swaggerville, and most teams are in their rhythm. So with that being said, I am looking to the East this week to dominate. I have a strong feeling the Bombers are going to make Hamilton look silly, and that the Als will hush up the Stamps. Although, I’m hoping they put up a great fight. Cammmmonnnn Stamps!

That’s it for me – it’s a short week. But make sure to listen to me on the 3rd and Long Podcast every week. I am their guest during picks, and am doing better than the boys :)

CFL Week 8 Predictions

Really, bud?

Avon Cobourne, I am shaking my head in disgust at you. I don’t even know where to begin with this story, so many facets of it make me want to give him the “talk to the hand face”.

Here’s where we’ll start.

That happened. And then he didn’t say sorry, he defended himself. *Jaw dropped*

REALLLLLYYY?! You think that was ok??!!?! That’s making it all worse! Are you single? If not, you should be now. Personally, I didn’t really think he was smart enough to realize that what he RTed was not only beyond offensive, but highly inappropriate for a professional athlete, but after being given a chance to apologize, and not taking IT… WHATTT! You are a “professional athlete” bud, act like it. Plus, Hamilton, how is this a cheer you guys have? So pitiful… what day and age are you living in that you think it would be ok to say that out loud, nevermind ONLINE! Crazy, crazy. I am certain the league will be doing something about this (which I will jump up and down for, WITH POMS, AVON!)

Let me take the high road here and just say this – those girls have more talent in their pinky than you have. Done.

Moving along to actual CFL news…

I’m picking the Argos this week! I feel like I am going to get hugs from my entire city. Why you ask? Well, they played pretty well last week – and I think they can beat the Riders. I am pumped for this – absolutely ecstatic. Let’s do it Double Blue!

As for the other game of the week Edmonton takes BC. I don’t even want to talk about it… I’m still sad about last game. But I believe they will prevail (I hope).

That’s it for me, enjoy the 1st of 2 Bye weeks, folks. And play safe online, I’m watching you boys…

CFL Week 7 Predictions

Maybe Taylor Swift is cheering for the Argos…?

Ummm, probably not.

This season for the Argos has just been sad. I have nothing fantastic to say about them (does anyone though?) and with Kevin Eiben out for the season – I think we should put them on perma bye week. But, I love a good underdog, so start fighting, Toronto. You can do it! Whoa! *pom shake*

In other CFL news, former RB Jesse Lumsden beat Mantracker on the weekend (or last fall). He had a fundraiser to premiere the episode in Calgary for two very good causes. Want to donate? Click here. I’m sure he would thank you, with a high 5.

As for week 7 – well, this should be interesting. Edmonton and the Als is probably my favourite match-up of the week. With Stamps out, and “No-Pick-Rick” quickly shaking off that title, it’s hard to say whether or not Edmonton can keep a float. At the same time, the Als haven’t proved to be anything worth writing home about lately. Beating the Argos doesn’t mean you’re “rolling off a high”, and Edmonton is looking to wipe away the wrongs of last weeks loss. I say Edmonton, yep, I’m calling it.

Week 7 Picks:

Edmonton vs. Montreal: Please find your bike boys, please. Edmonton in a really close match.

Calgary vs. Saskatchewan: 429 yards last game, folks. Those are big numbers to be putting on the board and I am happy to see Henry Burris and his team blowing it up on the field again. Calgary takes this battle in the west.

Toronto vs. Hamilton: Oskee Wee Wee… I’m gonna be in so much trouble in Toronto. Hamilton takes this game in the best rivalry match in the East.

Winnipeg vs. BC: Where do I get my Swaggerville T-shirt? I was cut up since Week 1 for picking the Bombers, look who is swagging on now. Winnipeg takes this if they stay FOCUSED. Bye week comes after boys, not before.

Enjoy the games, I’ll be hiding out in Hamilton for the weekend, where Argo fans can’t hurt me.

CFL Week 6 Predictions

David Braley must be on suicide watch.

Sir, it can only go up from here. To be honest I wouldn’t have expected this showing out of the Toronto Argos and the BC Lions while in pre-season. It’s tough to watch these teams slip week after week, but I believe one can turn things around in week 6. Wally Buono will be pumping a fist this week. BC will defeat Saskatchewan and get their first win of the season, and here is why: Shawn Gore, Tim Brown, Paul McCallum – too much talent to not win in week 6. I am slightly biased – I have watched Gore play since he was in a high school, but he is one talented athlete. McCallum received Special Teams Player of the Week, and frankly, he was the reason why BC came close against the Bombers. As for Tim Brown, he’s just a pleasure to see zip around the field. I am hoping to see these guys excited this week – sorry Rider nation.

Also, can I just say – picking Hamilton last week, fantastic choice!

I’ll be in Chicago, so no CFL action for me this week. Enjoy the games, and be sure to tweet me and let me know how I do.

Montreal vs. Toronto: While Montreal has been a bit of a disaster in the past 2 weeks, they will come to play this week. It’s a short turn around for both teams, and after the impressive display in the 4th quarter to narrow down the lead, Montreal will be ready for the Argos. I’m taking the Als.

Edmonton vs. Winnipeg: I love both these teams, but I am giving the edge to Winnipeg.

Saskatchewan vs. BC: As I stated before, the Lions will finally get a win, and they’ll do it at home.

Hamilton vs. Calgary: Sorry Stamps, the Ticats are on a high right now and they’re about to roll right through you. I am taking the Ticats, and boy am I impressed with their game play right now. Stala and Glenn, keep on keepin’ on.

Oh, and my record: 16-4

Make sure to also catch me on 3rd and Long when I discuss my picks with hosts Andy McNamara and Carlan Gay.

CFL Week 5 Predictions

Say whaaa?

Ya, pretty much.

I honestly got really freaking conceited on Saturday night after pulling off 3 W’s last week. I felt like a CFL Picking QUEEN! Not even a princess, a QUEEN! And then, wow. I mean, I am pretty happy that someone knocked down the Als (especially in the standings) but I didn’t see that one coming. So Sask, good on ya. Als, get better (I’ve always wanted to say that!)

Week 4 came and went just as I had otherwise expected. Winnipeg proved why they’re a great team, Edmonton proved a point in Alberta, and BC continues to shit the bed on a weekly basis. None of this is shocking, nor was it “unexpected” but hey, some of you thought otherwise and that’s probably why you’re not collecting funds from proline.

Week 5 is a bit of a different ball game. There are a lot of games this week that will be a shot in the dark. But I will stick with 2 teams that haven’t done me wrong – Winnipeg and Edmonton. Both teams are solid. Edmonton has by FAR the best player in the league. Fred Stamps, you sir are just… incredible. See his catch below, in awe. Do work, bud.

Winnipeg just continues to be my choice because they win games. Plus, watching Terence Jeffers-Harris score 2 TDs after last week, and Buck Pierce have an exceptional second half, was pretty sweet. Solid O, Solid D.

Here are my picks for Week 5:

BC vs Winnipeg: The Bombers. They are the better team, hands down.

Montreal vs Hamilton: Sure, Calvillo could be back – although he shouldn’t be. QBs and eye injuries are tough – you kinda need to see, perfectly. If they dress McPherson this could easily be a W for Hamilton. I am taking the Ticats.

Toronto vs Edmonton: I’m taking the Esks, and hope they continue on their quest for their bike. And I also dedicate this song to them, go Esks!

Calgary vs. Saskatchewan: Ahhh… umm… Calgary? I think Sask played well last week. No, they played like the Sask the league has come to know and love. But I think Calgary will take this game. I won’t be surprised if I’m wrong – but hey, hasn’t happened a lot yet.

That’s it for me this week. Enjoy the games!

CFL Week 4 Predictions

Saskatchewan… you’re killing me kids.

What is going on in the West this year? BC, you’re hurting my heart. I for some odd reason think you will balance the scale out, but wow, hurry up. Sask on the other hand, glad you enjoyed your winning seasons while you could. I wonder how those All Dressler chips taste now.

Nothing saddens me more than to see two supposedly great teams “shit-the-bed” at the start of the season – oh wait, no it doesn’t. I like seeing the underdog race out of the gate, and for that, I applaud Edmonton. 3 wins. 3 wins to start their season. I don’t care if they lose every other game this year, 3 wins when everyone thought they would be sitting where Saskatchewan is right now. Congratulations Esks, you’re doing Edmonton proud. Coach of the year? Too soon? I digress.

While I’m not happy to do this, as a girl who was at the game Damon Allen broke this record, Anthony Calvillo broke Damon Allen’s all-time TD passes record in Friday night’s 40-17 home win over the Argonauts. Ouchhhh. But good for him, and congrats Als fans on a big win (not that I was surprised). On the other side of Ontario, Winnipeg put up a good fight, but unlike the Als who have a solid QB, the struggle continues for the Bombers to put up points to match their extraordinary D. Pierce – out due to injury, Elliot – out due to injury, Goltz – long shot TC guy who was resigned. While Pierce is expected to start against the Argos on Saturday, if he can’t lead the reins, it will be up to third-stringer Alex Brink to take the charge. Ummm, ahhh, yikes. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, but all I keep thinking is, “why did you give up Jyles?” – and yes, he’s injured too. All I can say is, I wouldn’t want to be playing for the Bombers as QB… dun, dun, dun.

Week 4 – I’m excited. Toronto finally has their home opener, although don’t even get pumped that I’m going to pick the boys in double blue. Edmonton sees Calgary and I think it will be a great rival game (battle of Alberta!). And of course, Sask will remind me of the little kid whose ice cream was toppled over – so sad.

Hamilton vs. BC: Hamilton takes this match, as I just can’t foresee BC stepping their game up any time soon. I was really impressed with Hamilton last week, should have given them more credit. I predict Glenn and his offence to continue to play their game, and watch BC’s defence struggle to keep up.

Winnipeg vs. Toronto: Even with their “so who’s playing QB?” plight, I believe Winnipeg takes the W. This will be a battle of the D’s and whoever can put points on the board quicker, will come out victorious. I could get in trouble for this pick, but I’ll be at the cottage. Enjoy the game, Toronto!

Edmonton vs. Calgary: I’m sticking with my boys. That is all. Edmonton wins in a close game.

Saskatchewan vs. Montreal: Greg Marshall, there’s always a place open to drown your sorrows in Montreal. Have fun after, big guy.

That’s it for me this week, 3/4 is great and all but I want 100% picks this week. Oh, and Argos fans, I promise I’ll pick them at some point.
