Grey Cup is coming up this weekend, and I can’t wait for football food. Last year I was covering the game with CBC Sports, and it was a wild week of late nights, early mornings, and food on the go. It will be nice to settle in to watch the game with food made from home!
Aww, memories.
When I was sent Ozery Pita Break‘s new OneBun product, Zero Low Low (ZLL) – which has Zero added sugar, Low sodium, and Low fat, I knew exactly what to make. PIZZA! And what’s perfect for football parties? PIZZA!
I wanted to try a simple base with different toppings. With pizza it’s easy, add what you like. I made a trip to the St. Lawrence Market for fresh ingredients like mushrooms, tomatoes, sausage, and even pizza sauce (at $3 for a container, saved me some time!) Using both the Sprouted Wheat and Light Rye flavours I was able to enjoy mini sized pizzas with a thin, and really quick to prepare *wink wink* crust.
For your party on Sunday, why not cut the personal pizza in 4’s as a bite size appetizer, or keep them whole if you have a football player sized man at home!
Mini Pizza
What You’ll Need
- Ozery Pita Break OneBun’s
- Pizza (Tomato) Sauce
- Mozzarella Cheese, grated
- Cremini Mushrooms
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Fresh Basil
- Hot Sausage
What To Do
Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Open 3 buns and place them on the lined baking sheet. Top with pizza sauce and spread to the edges. Top with some grated mozza. Slice cremini mushrooms and place on the pizza, or cherry tomatoes (or both!). Tear fresh basil and top sporadically. Top with more grated mozza. Take the sausage out of the casing and make very small meatballs, place on top.
Place in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes.
How would you top your mini pizza? Enjoy the game!
